Omaha man accused in White House UFC event plot extradited to Ohio

LINCOLN, Neb. (WOWT) – An Omaha man the DOJ has said was the mastermind behind a plot to attack the Freedom 250 UFC event last month at the White House is being extradited to Ohio.

Abraham Hermosillo Alvarez, 31, was arrested by the FBI in Omaha on June 14 after he and his wife came home from the pool. He was among eight men indicted on murder and conspiracy charges for their alleged roles in a thwarted drone and sniper attack on the UFC cage-fighting show staged at the White House in June.

Investigators say the group planned to kill law-enforcement officers, politicians, and other high-profile people in an attack June 14 — all because Alvarez was upset with the status of the U.S. government.

The warrant ordering his extradition to Ohio was issued on Thursday and signed by personnel at the Saline County Sheriff’s Office on Monday.
