ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Two Anchorage women who call themselves the “Soul Sisters Basketree” have turned a shared hobby into a basket-weaving business, teaching monthly workshops open to participants of all experience levels.
Colleen Anagick and Sharon Hamilton, both retired from health care, have been friends since 1997.
Over the years, the pair shared activities including racquetball, cross-country skiing, flower arranging and bicycling, before basket weaving became their common pursuit.
From hobby to business
Anagick said she began taking basket classes in 2007 after a foot injury and started teaching in 2009. Hamilton took her first class from Anagick and has since developed her own style…
