Some local businesses remove food items amid cyclospora outbreak: ‘As a precaution’

CLEVELAND (WJW) – Federal health officials said Ohio and Michigan are among the hardest hit states in an outbreak of a foodborne intestinal illness caused by a parasite called cyclospora.

Authorities said it appears the outbreak was caused by contaminated lettuce and greens, and local businesses are protecting their customers by removing the items from shelves and menus as a precaution.
