Bobo’s Noodles and Dumplings opened in April on the corner of 14th & Cuming Street, a block west of Charles Schwab Field. Its owners are Jian “Peter” Pan and his wife Maomao. Peter and Maomao also own Bo Bo China in Millard and Blue Hawaii in Aksarben.
Their Omaha restaurant journey began when they purchased Bo Bo China, drawn to its established history and experienced former owner, who continued working there after the sale. That foundation allowed them to pursue other restaurant concepts, including Oma’Oma’O Poke & Sushi near 124th & West Dodge Road, which they later sold.
Peter and Maomao developed Bobo’s together as an homage to the Chinatowns and dim sum restaurants they sought out during their travels, especially those serving soup dumplings. Those culinary excursions led them to the same conclusion: Omaha needed a restaurant dedicated to handmade dumplings and noodles. That same focus on freshness and quality echoes what I experienced at Blue Hawaii.
“Dumplings and buns are like pizza and burgers to American people,” Peter said. “We love the food. My sister, my cousin and my dad are all working here. We really want to bring handmade Chinese dumplings and noodles to the downtown community.”
Bobo’s is committed to serving the highest-quality Chinese food it can produce. Peter wants visitors from larger cities, new Omaha residents and travelers passing through to recognize Bobo’s as the kind of restaurant they’d expect to find elsewhere. A driving force behind Bobo’s is Peter’s desire for local diners to experience the handmade Chinese comfort food he and Maomao fell in love with. He wants us to fall in love too…
