Hundreds of aging utility poles will be replaced over three years: HECO

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Starting in late July, up to 100 aging utility poles along the Leeward Coast will be replaced over the next three years.

The work aims to enhance safety in areas prone to wildfires, Hawaiian Electric announced in a press release on July 15.

“Identifying this single stretch of, you know, of about 100 poles on Farrington Highway, it’s going to have some significant impacts,” said Darren Pai with Hawaiian Electric, commonly known as HECO. “So we wanted to give the community a heads up. Let them know in advance that we’re going to be out there working.”…
