Judge weighs bid to dismiss murder charge against former Franklin County deputy

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Nearly six years after the death of Casey Goodson Jr., a former Franklin County sheriff’s deputy could face a third trial on a murder charge.

Jason Meade’s defense is asking a judge to dismiss the murder charge tied to Goodson’s death, arguing that a third trial would be unfair. Meade was convicted in May of reckless homicide, but the jury could not reach a unanimous decision on the murder charge.
