Court finds husband spent wounded Saraland officer’s care money at casinos

MOBILE, Ala. (NBC 15) — Nearly a decade after Saraland Police Officer Jackie Tucker was shot in the line of duty, court records paint a troubling picture of what happened to the money intended for her care. The Mobile County Probate Judge found that much of the money benefited her husband, Prichard Police Sgt. Aaron Tucker, instead of Jackie.

Jackie was shot in the head while responding to a domestic violence call in December 2016, leaving her with life-altering injuries. After she was declared incapacitated, the probate court appointed Aaron to serve as her conservator, giving him responsibility for managing her finances. His sister, Shawna Williams, later became a co-conservator.

Years later, court audits uncovered “numerous” red flags with the conservatorship, including the failure to report money received from fundraisers and a $343,000 Department of Justice benefit payment. The court also flagged “large amounts of cash” Aaron withdrew from the conservatorship account and checks he wrote to himself…
