Pre-Dawn Tragedy On Spurs Ranch As Man Fatally Struck Near U.S. 90

A deadly early-morning crash on San Antonio’s far West Side left a man dead Thursday after a driver spotted what looked like a body in the road and stopped to help.

San Antonio police say officers were called just before 5 a.m. to the 5000 block of Spurs Ranch near U.S. Highway 90, where first responders found a man lying in the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

Police Response

According to KSAT, a preliminary San Antonio Police Department report indicates the passing motorist did not witness the impact itself, but pulled over, tried to assist and called for officers. The victim has not yet been identified, and investigators remained at the site gathering evidence.

The outlet reported that “SAPD said its investigation remains ongoing,” as detectives work to reconstruct the crash and determine how the man ended up in the roadway.
