Copper thefts rise in Green Country, disrupting internet and phone service, officials say

Copper cable thefts across Green Country are leaving behind more than damaged utility lines, with investigators warning the crimes are disrupting internet and phone service and raising public safety concerns.

Kinetic says thieves have stolen more than 4,000 feet of copper cable across Tulsa, Broken Arrow and rural parts of Wagoner County over the last two to three months. The company says it has happened more than 25 times, including one theft as recently as last weekend.
