FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) — Allen County firefighters completed a full training session Thursday despite dangerous heat, working through real-life scenarios while taking precautions to protect their health.
Training Officer James Noll said the goal is to keep his crew prepared for any conditions they may face in the field.
“I’ve worked in 10 degrees below zero, I’ve worked in 100 degrees, and your body adapts,” Noll said.
Noll said interior temperatures at fire scenes present an additional challenge for crews.
“The homes can range from 1,000 to 2,000 degrees,” he said. “Every body is a little bit different in the heat and if you’re not used to it and you haven’t done it for a little bit, it catches you a little off guard.”…
