Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. today announced the successful completion of the latest solar installation at its Savannah-based Research and Development Campus (RDC), creating the largest rooftop solar portfolio in Chatham County. The RDC at Gulfstream’s worldwide headquarters now hosts five completed solar arrays supporting 620,000 square feet of facility space with the latest addition being a 2,700-panel system on its RDC III building.
The rooftop systems were installed by Atlanta-based Cherry Street Energy and have a combined generating capacity of 2.9 megawatts, producing more than 3 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. In total, the project offsets Gulfstream’s RDC electricity usage significantly and reduces related emissions.
“Sustainability is embedded in every aspect of Gulfstream’s business,” said Mark Burns, president, Gulfstream. “We remain committed to helping advance business aviation’s sustainability mission while enriching our communities through environmental stewardship and support. The completion of these solar installations represents another meaningful step in our commitment to the environment, further strengthening our position as a leader in sustainable aviation.”…
