Five Teens Crash Stolen Honda After Armed Carjacking in Dallas

A carjacking in Old East Dallas ended in a police chase and a serious crash overnight, leaving one teenager in critical condition and four others with a variety of injuries. Dallas police say the group, all teenagers, robbed a driver at gunpoint before taking off in the victim’s white Honda sedan.

The whole thing started around 10:30 p.m. near the intersection of Live Oak Street and North Carroll Avenue, when the victim was reportedly leaving a business and was confronted by the group. Whoever picked that Honda probably didn’t expect it to end up on the evening news a few hours later, but here we are.

What makes this case interesting from a technology standpoint is how quickly police caught up to the vehicle. A license plate reading camera system, often referred to as a Flock camera, flagged the stolen Honda at an apartment complex off Broughton Road in Pleasant Grove.
