KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – A 7-story, 245-unit multifamily development from Alpha Residential is being proposed near Knoxville’s stadium district, featuring three levels of structured parking, resident amenities on the lower floors, ground-level retail/amenity space on a corner of the building and murals planned along the exterior.
David Pena, development manager for Alpha Residential, said the project is intended to be “complimentary to what’s already going on there in the district now,” while also addressing housing demand as more people move into the area.
What’s planned
Plans presented during the city design review board meeting describe a seven-story building with:
- Three stories of structured parking on the lower levels
- Resident amenities on floors 1–2
- A mezzanine level included in the building design
- A private back courtyard reserved for residents
- Murals on the side of the building, including at least one mural intended to be visible from outside
- Saltwater swimming pool listed among amenities
- Parking and street access changes
Pena said balconies would include views of the Smoky Mountains and the baseball stadium.
Parking and street access changes
The project’s parking design and access points were a major part of the discussion.
During the meeting, Pena said serviced parking would be removed from the plan, lower-level parking access would be from Florida Street and Georgia Street and Patton Street would be pedestrian…
