MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Alabama-based River Bank & Trust has filed a report with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission following a cybersecurity incident in which ransomware spread across part of its network.
According to the filing, someone gained unauthorized access to the bank’s network on June 16. Three days later, bank officials determined ransomware had spread across part of the company’s server.
Data removed, scope unknown
The company disabled the affected administrative accounts and took the system offline. SEC filings indicate someone removed some data from the network, though the amount of data taken has not been disclosed.
