CAMILLUS, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — A Camillus native and West Genesee graduate was killed Sunday night in the Philippines.
73-year-old Kent Carpenter was an internationally respected marine biologist and long-time professor at Old Dominion University in Virginia. Philippines authorities said Carpenter was shot and killed during what they believe was a home invasion on July 12.
Sheila Quinell of Camillus said she’s been friends with Carpenter since she was a teenager and grew up with him and his older brother, Curt. Quinell said she was looking forward to seeing Carpenter at their high school reunion in a few weeks…
