Phoenician Cuisine brings freshly baked goods to Denton

When Denton resident Karen Daniel moved to the United States from Lebanon, starting a business was not her main priority. But after observing a lack of the fresh baked goods she grew up with, those priorities changed.

Born and raised in Lebanon, Daniel comes from a multi-cultural background. Her father is Armenian and Russian, while her mother is Greek and Bulgarian. Both of her parents were born in Lebanon, and Daniel said this “combined culture,” along with her grandmother, sparked her love of cooking.

“I come from a very traditional grandmother who loved to cook, and in our culture, food is a big part of family and friends,” Daniel said. “Everything is about food. I grew up constantly watching my grandmother cook, and I only ate healthy food. I never knew about fast food, McDonald’s or any of that stuff.”…
