Syracuse police disperse crowd at game store’s ‘bird-thaw’ event lacking permit

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — What was billed as a highly anticipated social media event at a Syracuse game store ended with police dispersing a crowd after it grew too large for the space.

After weeks of anticipation, Megaton Games on James Street held what it called a “bird-thaw.” The event drew more than 300 people and spilled out into a shared parking lot.

Syracuse police were called and eventually dispersed the crowd because the event did not have a permit for a crowd that size. Nobody was arrested…
