IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) – Iowa City has secured a $23.5 million federal BUILD grant to help fund a rebuild of the Burlington Street bridge near downtown.
The grant is part of a project expected to cost about $57 million total. Senior Engineer Justin Harland said the federal funding is needed to keep the full scope of the project on track.
“Without that, we would have to draw some of the scope items back,” Harland said.
Separate bike and pedestrian lanes planned
