Gwinnett schools conducting two separate equity reviews

Gwinnett County Public Schools leaders are concerned enough about equity that they are looking at it from two different angles.

The district is having Boston-based Education Resource Strategies, also referred to as ERS, conduct a comprehensive equity audit that the county’s school board approved last month to look at how the district deploys resources. At the same time, Rutgers University Urban Education and Policy Professor Edward Fergus will conduct a separate equity study of how GCPS implements discipline and certain academic programs as part of the district’s leadership transition and strategic planning process.

Officials working on the two reviews concede there will be some overlap, but GCPS officials insist they will also look at different areas…
