Council Approves Settlement of LAPD Captain’s Retaliation Suit

The Los Angeles City Council has approved a settlement with a veteran police captain assigned to help oversee the policing of Metro subway lines and buses who alleged he was reprimanded for a trivial matter in retaliation for complaining that his unit commander was misusing personnel

Capt. Brian Pratt’s Los Angeles Superior Court whistleblower suit sought unspecified damages. The parties had reached a tentative settlement in May that was subject to final approval by the City Council, which occurred July 1.

The court papers did not reveal the terms, but stated Pratt would be paid in August…
