French Quarter businesses win partial settlement as SWBNO disruptions spread beyond work zones

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – French Quarter business owners say the long delays in a Sewerage and Water Board pipe replacement project have snarled foot traffic, cut into revenue and often left them without warnings when closures expand.

A partial civil lawsuit settlement approved last Friday (July 17) could bring some relief.

Under the settlement approved by Civil District Court Judge Sidney Cates, the SWBNO has 10 days to begin removing some barricades and fencing where active road work is not underway and to install pedestrian crossings. Businesses will also receive advance notice of any new or extended closures affecting the area…
