BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) – Rescue crews responded to Roaring Run Falls in Botetourt County to rescue a 12-year-old boy who had fallen from a cliff Saturday afternoon, according to the Fincastle Volunteer Fire Department.
Fincastle Volunteer FD says it and other crews responded to to a reported injury at 3:38 p.m. July 18, 2026.
Crews say they entered the woods to locate the boy along with medical equipment, a Stokes basket, and a litter wheel.
“Due to the steep and uneven terrain, crews utilized a combination of a litter wheel and low-angle rope rescue systems to safely maneuver the Stokes basket along the trail, transitioning to rope systems where the terrain prevented use of the wheel,” according to Fincastle…
