BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A man accused of shooting and killing a 66-year-old man at his east Bakersfield home in 2024 is scheduled to stand trial next month, according to Kern County Superior Court records.
Tyrell Keithen Cooper faces six charges, including murder, in the death of 66-year-old Harry Eugene Clark Jr. at Clark’s home in the 200 block of Clyde Street. Cooper is set for a pending trial on August 31.
Bakersfield police responded to the home at about 8 a.m. March 3, 2024, after receiving reports of an assault. Officers found a man who had died and showed obvious signs of trauma. Homicide detectives took over the case shortly afterward.
Court records show Cooper was initially found incompetent in 2024. At a hearing last month on his competency, a Kern County judge ruled Cooper was competent to stand trial for murder, robbery and related charges. Cooper re-entered a not guilty plea today, following a plea in 2024 of the same manner…
