FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – For many people, losing a pet also means losing a best friend. But unlike other kinds of grief, many pet owners say they don’t always feel understood. That’s why Humane Fort Wayne’s pet loss support group is Positively Fort Wayne.
“There’s a definite need. Individuals who have lost their companions, they love them so dearly and often find others don’t understand and there’s nowhere to turn, so these groups provide a sacred space for them to be able to grieve,” said Dr. Paula Neuman, a psychologist leading the support group at Humane Fort Wayne.
One of those people is Taylor Morgan. Taylor works at Humane Fort Wayne, and often sees some of the worst moments when it comes to pets in our community. But when her Chihuahua, Coco, reached the end of her life after 15 years together, Taylor suddenly felt on the other side of that support…
