A major leadership transition is on the horizon for the Children’s Advocacy Center of Erie County. The organization has announced that Executive Director Michael Gaines will retire March 31, 2027 after 17 years of service. Gaines, who began his role in 2010, has led the nonprofit through significant growth, including expanding staff, increasing funding, and launching innovative child abuse prevention programs.
Under his leadership, the center grew its impact, providing services to more than 5,000 children and families, securing more than $640,000 in grants, and maintaining national accreditation for its high standards of care. The board of directors has launched a nationwide search for Gaines’ successor, with the new executive director expected to start in January 2027.
The Children’s Advocacy Center offers forensic interviews, prevention education, and family support to reduce trauma and promote healing for child abuse victims.
