About 40,000 Lucas County property owners should check their mailboxes — their second-half property tax bills just got a little lighter.
OhioHouse Bill 186 required the Lucas County Auditor’s Office to recalculate second-half 2026 property tax bills for residents in five specific school districts. The new law caps certain school-tax millage rates — formally called “outside millage rates” — for districts on the 20-mill floor threshold, and the resulting credit means lower bills for those affected owners.
The five affected districts are Anthony Wayne, Swanton, Otsego, Evergreen, and Penta County. If your property falls within any of those boundaries, the credit — officially called the “Inflation Cap Credit” — is already built into your bill…
