Burglary Jamaican Jerk House renews calls for more police presence

NEW ORLEANS — A popular Lower Ninth Ward restaurant is recovering after its fifth burglary since opening in 2021, prompting renewed concerns about crime and police staffing in the neighborhood.

The owner of Jamaican Jerk House said she arrived Sunday morning to learn someone had broken into the restaurant overnight, shattering the front door and stealing a bottle of liquor from behind the bar.
