TROY — Collar City Pride will return its annual festival to downtown Troy this fall after relocating last year amid clashes with city officials, according to a Facebook post the organization published June 1. But the friction between organizers and the city hasn’t fully subsided.
The October event will be the organization’s third annual Pride festival. Last year, citing concerns over a Facebook post by the deputy mayor, the group held the event at Hudson Shores Park in Watervliet. The organization’s founder, Meagon Nolasco, told the Times Union that “timing and the inability to receive information about permitting” also played a factor.
A permit for this year’s event, however, is still in limbo. City Council Clerk Addie Thompson said Collar City Pride’s special event permit application has cleared its initial rounds of review but has remained with the deputy mayor and the commissioner of general services since May 26…
