3 killed, 1 injured in Chilton County crash that shut down interstate, authorities say

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Three Montgomery residents were killed in a multi-vehicle crash that happened on Interstate 65 near Verbena Monday morning, according to the Alabama Law enforcement Agency.

Captain Jeremy Burkett said the crash happened in the southbound lanes around 11:05 a.m. near the 199 mile marker. That’s a short distance from Exit 200 to Verbena. First responders temporarily shut down the northbound lanes while a medical helicopter landed at the scene to provide medical aid.

Authorities have identified the victims as Valerie J. Granville, 65, Vensen E. Granville, 39, and Willie J. Gholston, 69. All three were pronounced dead at the scene…
