Lawsuit settled between school district, family of 8-year-old girl whose arm got caught on Horry County school bus door

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A lawsuit between the family of an 8-year-old girl whose arm was caught in an Horry County school bus door and the driver has been settled, according to court documents.

Thomas Michael Interlandi was initially arrested and charged with unlawful conduct toward a child as a result of the Aug. 25, 2023, incident, but the case was eventually dismissed. A district spokesperson told News13 that Interlandi’s employment had ended on Aug. 29, 2023.

Stephanie Floyd-McInnis, the girl’s mother, filed a federal lawsuit in 2024 that named Interlandi and the school district. Last week, the case between all parties was settled for $175,000…
