A disturbing video circulating online has Seattle-area neighborhoods on edge, showing multiple cats, some apparently dismembered, left outside private homes. The clips are bouncing around neighborhood message boards and rescue-group channels, and residents are now combing through doorbell and trail-camera footage, hoping something on their own systems explains who is behind it.
As reported by KIRO 7, the short compilation includes doorbell-camera and homeowner video that appears to show feline remains deliberately placed on lawns and front porches. KIRO shared the footage on July 21 and noted that the images have rattled more than one neighborhood.
Online neighborhood forums and small rescue groups have started building their own informal timelines, gathering reports and timestamps from Ring and other doorbell cameras to look for patterns, according to a local roundup at Project No More. Many of those posts point to incidents in Kent’s East Hill corridor and nearby areas, although the accounts are largely grassroots and have not all been independently confirmed by police.
What the law says
Under Washington law, intentionally causing severe injury to an animal or killing one with substantial pain can be charged as animal cruelty in the first degree, a class C felony, according to RCW 16.52.205. Courts can prohibit convicted offenders from owning animals and can also order counseling, restitution, and seizure of animals when the situation calls for it.
Past cases show arrests are possible – but not guaranteed
Prosecutors in Washington have pursued felony animal-cruelty cases when they have enough to go on.
