BRISTOL, Va. (WJHL) — Shearer’s Foods announced that it will stop production at its manufacturing plant in Bristol at the end of July and eventually close the facility in September– a move that affects more than 100 local jobs.
A news release from the company on Wednesday morning said the decision will impact approximately 155 team members at the plant. The move follows a “thorough review” of the company’s business and manufacturing network as well as long-term operational needs.
The company said production at its Bristol plant has declined and customer demand has shifted. Shearer’s said the closure was not a reflection of the Bristol team’s dedication or skill.

“This was a difficult business decision and one we did not take lightly,” CEO at Shearer’s Foods Bill Nictakis stated in the release. “Our Bristol team members have worked hard, represented Shearer’s with pride, and contributed meaningfully to our business. Our focus now is on treating every affected team member with respect and providing practical support as they prepare for what comes next.”…
