DelDOT to squeeze traffic on southern gateway out of Wilmington

One of the major southern ways in and out of Wilmington will be squeezed in half until further notice.

DelDOT announced the South Walnut Street Bridge, which was built in 1938, is suffering deterioration to its support columns, requiring a reduced weight limit on the span between I-495 and the Chase Fieldhouse.

As a result, S. Market Street (U.S. Business 13) will be reduced to one lane in each direction, with a truck weight limit of 20 tons, starting Wednesday, July 22, 2026…
