Large hole in Little Rock neighborhood part of city drainage improvement project

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A large hole was dug in the middle of a neighborhood in Little Rock near 4th Street and Valmar as part of a drainage improvement project from the city.

The City of Little Rock said a sewer service line penetrated a deteriorated metal pipe, which resulted in the sinkhole following nearby excavation and construction; the pipe will be replaced as part of the drainage project, and the area has been secured and addressed by the city contractor.

Along with the damage that was caused by the collapse of a corrugated metal pipe, the other reason for the project was to mitigate flash flooding in the neighborhood…
