ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The Albany County District Attorney’s Office reported that Michael Johnson of Hudson was sentenced on Wednesday to nine and a half years in state prison in a 2024 firearm case in Albany. Johnson, 40, previously pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

On October 19, 2024 just after 9 p.m., Johnson was seen firing a gun at an occupied car near Henry Johnson Boulevard and Clinton Avenue by officers with the Colonie Police Department who had just left Albany Medical Center. Detectives determined that the involved car fled the vicinity, and no injuries were reported.
CPD and Albany Police officers took him into custody by First Street shortly after the incident. Police later recovered a loaded, 9mm Taurus handgun from the area, and found that Johnson had a quantity of crack cocaine with him at the time.

In addition to his prison sentence, Judge William Little ordered Johnson to serve five years of post-release supervision. Assistant District Attorney Bryanne Brucato led the case’s prosecution.
