HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A Myrtle Beach man with more than 33 arrests avoided prison Monday, pleading guilty to lesser charges after kidnapping and assault counts were dropped when the victim declined to cooperate.
Shane Cook, 36, pleaded guilty to aggravated breach of peace and unlawful use of 911 prior to his case being called for trial on the charges this week, according to the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
A judge sentenced Cook to five years in prison, which was suspended to probation for three years.
“We are certainly disappointed by the outcome in this case, given all the allegations against Shane Cook, but in any prosecution, our burden is to prove a case beyond a reasonable doubt,” Brandon R.
