SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – Extreme heat is not only affecting the air in northwest Louisiana — it is also damaging roadways and vehicle tires, according to state transportation officials and a local tire shop.
Road buckling forces lane closures on I-49
Erin Buchanan with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development said road buckling is a common occurrence during this time of year.
“So, as we typically experience during this time of year, we had some lanes that had buckling in the roadway, heat-related buckling of the roadway,” Buchanan said.
