North Augusta’s Living History Park could soon restore historic water wheel

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. — One of the most recognizable features at North Augusta’s Living History Park could soon get a second life.

City leaders have approved a request to redirect grant funding toward restoring the park’s water wheel, which was removed because of deterioration and damage caused by Hurricane Helene.

Park leaders say the storm, along with years of weathering, caused serious damage to several of the park’s main attractions. The new funding could help restore a feature that has long played a role in the park’s live demonstrations of colonial life…
