SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — After months of debate inside Syracuse City Hall, 13 Flock Safety license plate reader cameras across have officially been removed from city property.
The removal follows a Common Council vote in early February to end the city’s partnership with Flock and move to a new vendor. At the time, common councilors cited concerns over how license plate data could be shared outside the city, prompting officials to begin looking for a replacement while maintaining the technology police say helps solve serious crimes.
