Man Pulled Over for Driving on Shoulder’s Excuse Leaves Cop Nearly Speechless

One man just couldn’t find the right words to use in front of a cop. In a short but sweet video released by the Fairfax County Police Department, an officer catches a car driving onto the shoulder of a highway right in front of him and quickly pulls him over. When asked why he was on the shoulder, the driver said that he was merely checking the orange traffic cones, which left the officer nearly speechless.

Officer Hungarter was waiting near Exit 44 of a highway when the driver of a black car decided that this was the best time to drive onto the shoulder, according to a Facebook post on the police department’s official page.

The man wanted to pull ahead of bumper-to-bumper traffic and use the shoulder of the freeway as a seemingly open lane. Given the congestion, i’s surprising that he missed the patrol car in the first place, but that made the officer’s job much easier.

The cop turned on his siren and sped toward the vehicle, which was quickly stopped on the side of the highway. At least that wasn’t hard since the driver was already there. The officer approached the vehicle, giving his name and explaining why the man was being stopped…
