ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) – The Rivanna Solid Waste Authority celebrated the completion of a new recycling baling facility Thursday with a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Ivy Solid Waste & Recycling Center on Dick Woods Road.
The 16,800-square-foot building receives and bales recyclable materials including mixed paper, corrugated cardboard, plastic film, and #1 and #2 plastic containers. The facility features 11 loading docks that allow tractor-trailers to be staged, and at-grade loading that enables forklifts to load finished bales for transport.
Previously, RSWA’s recycling baling operations were housed at an undersized leased facility. The new building relocates those operations to the Ivy Solid Waste & Recycling Center, which the authority said creates a more efficient workflow and provides capacity to meet the region’s growing recycling demands…
