Providence honors woman killed in drive-by shooting

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Miya Brophy-Baermann would’ve turned 29 years old Thursday.

Instead of celebrating by having her blow out the candles on her birthday cake, Brophy-Baermann’s loved ones gathered at the spot in Providence where she was killed in a drive-by shooting nearly five years ago.

The 24-year-old was shot and killed while standing next to her parked car on Olney Street with her boyfriend back in August 2021.
