After months of unsuccessful negotiations, the Elk Grove Unified School District is moving toward using eminent domain to acquire land for the planned Suncreek Middle and High School campus in Rancho Cordova.
The district spent months trying to purchase the property through “extensive negotiations,” according to a news release issued Wednesday, before considering using eminent domain — the legal process that allows public agencies to acquire private property for public use while paying the owner just compensation.
