WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Leah Tate has lived in Solomon Towers for five years and says conditions inside her building have only deteriorated since she moved in.
“It makes us feel abandoned and hopeless and forgotten,” she said. “I can not tell you how many times I have sat right here and sobbed.”
For years, residents at Solomon Towers, an 11-story public housing building in downtown Wilmington, have cited ongoing complaints of mold, bedbugs, roaches, flooding and unresponsive management. In an interview with WECT, the head of the Wilmington Housing Authority (WHA), which oversees the building, said the agency is aware of those concerns and that a $30 million rehabilitation project for the building is on track to begin early next year…
