A $40 million Kroger Marketplace opens in North Texas next week

Kroger is opening a major new North Texas supermarket as rivals pursue some of the country’s largest grocery expansion plans. The new Marketplace store will bring a full grocery operation, general merchandise and 14 fueling positions to the fast-growing Little Elm area.

The $40 million Kroger Marketplace at 26587 E. University Drive is scheduled to open at 6 a.m. Friday, July 31. At approximately 123,000 square feet, it is much larger than a conventional neighborhood supermarket and will serve Little Elm, Aubrey, Providence Village and nearby Denton County communities.

The store will include full-service grocery, produce, meat, seafood, floral and pharmacy departments. Kroger is also adding a Murray’s Cheese counter, a fresh-cut fruit kiosk and a broader selection of home goods, apparel and toys…
