BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Kern County Animal Services is emphasizing the importance of microchips after a 10-year-old Golden Retriever was reunited with his owner. The reunion happened a day after they were involved in a crash. At the time, his owner was taken to the hospital, and the dog, Zeus, was taken to the facility.
Kern County Animal Services said that while traveling through Kern County, Zeus and his owner were involved in a serious car crash. His owner was taken to the hospital, while Zeus, who was not hurt, was brought to Kern County Animal Services.
“When Zeus arrived, we had no way of knowing who he belonged to until staff scanned him for a microchip,” said in a social media post. The chip allowed staff to identify and contact his owner.
