Dearborn wrapped up work on a makeover at the spot where Schaefer Road meets Prospect Street. Workers built an island and switched nearby streets to one-way traffic to cut down on crashes. The project finished around early July.
Mayor Abdullah Hammoud explained how the changes stop left turns from Prospect onto Schaefer. This crossing has been the most dangerous in town for left-turn wrecks.
“The businesses at these corners in this area have changed over time, so the original design that might have happened decades ago is no longer sufficient with the way that traffic is coming in and out of this neighborhood,” he said according to The Detroit News…
