CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. (WGXA) — A Monroe County man will spend decades behind bars for a deadly stabbing in Woodstock, Ga., in 2024.
Cherokee County District Attorney Susan K. Treadaway announced that 27-year-old Triston James Sexton pleaded guilty to murder and possession of a knife during the commission of a felony on July 16.
The investigation into the Forsyth native began on September 19, 2024, when Woodstock police officers found David Courtney Phelps, 55, of Atlanta, stabbed approximately 20 times around 4 a.m. at Avonela Town Lake Apartments.
