Nearly a thousand new condominiums are coming to the vacant Otay Mesa land within the Southwest Village Specific Plan area, and the City Council’s approval means the subdivision map is now official—with construction timing still dependent on later permits and a long list of conditions.
The council voted on July 6 to approve Resolution R-316860 approving Vesting Tentative Map No. PMT-2188969 for Tri Pointe Homes IE-SD, Inc.’s 920-unit condominium project on 182.90 acres within the Southwest Village Specific Plan area.
That plan covers roughly 490 acres bounded by State Route 905 to the north, Interstate 805 to the west, and the U.S.-Mexico border to the south. Of those 920 units, 92 must be affordable, all delivered during Phase 1, which covers Planning Areas 8 through 14.
