The drive down Little Neck Road in Chatham County doesn’t look like it used to.
Thousands of homes are sprouting in Savannah’s New Hampstead and hundreds of acres of cleared land, paired with intermittent “for sale” or “leasing soon” signs, tell the tale of more to come. But this year it hasn’t been just planned developments making their way towards completion there but also five miles of high-voltage transmission lines.
Those lines are key infrastructure to take power from Georgia Power’s new West Chatham County substation to the bevy of new light switches in homes and businesses across this county’s subregion.
